Overview: 

 The Buyer & Commercial Negotiator leads sourcing and procurement for key product categories, ensuring the business secures high-quality products at the best possible terms. This role is vital in achieving commercial goals, managing supplier relationships, and optimising inventory flow. The ideal candidate is commercially sharp, confident, and negotiation-savvy. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Supplier Negotiation & Management 

    1. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and service agreements with vendors. 

    2. Build strong supplier relationships and evaluate performance regularly. 

    3. Ensure reliable supply and alignment with business requirements. 

  2. Procurement Planning 

    1. Forecast stock needs based on sales trends, seasonality, and promotions. 

    2. Prevent overstocking or stockouts through timely ordering. 

    3. Monitor lead times and vendor reliability. 

  3. Commercial Intelligence 

    1. Stay informed about market trends, competitor prices, and emerging opportunities. 

    2. Recommend pricing adjustments and margin strategies. 

    3. Identify high-margin or private-label categories for growth. 

  4. Stock & Cost Optimisation 

    1. Maintain procurement KPIs: cost savings, delivery accuracy, supplier performance. 

    2. Analyse product velocity and recommend adjustments to order cycles. 

    3. Ensure products meet quality, price, and compliance standards. 

  5. Reporting & Collaboration 

    1. Provide commercial insights to the finance and commercial teams. 

    2. Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier files. 

    3. Report monthly on procurement performance and strategic wins.
